From the website: "Step back in history to the golden age of automobile design. From the 1930s to the mid-1960s, a few select car manufacturers produced the best of the best–custom-built, luxurious, one-of-a-kind designs incorporating remarkable advances in automotive styling and engineering. For the first time, twenty of the world's rarest and most brilliantly conceived cars from this period–including Ferrari, Mercedes-Benz, Bentley, Porsche, Cadillac, Corvette, Jaguar, and Aston Martin–will be on view at the High Museum of Art in Atlanta. Aerodynamic design and meticulous craftsmanship combine to make these prized motorcars masterpieces of fine art and rolling sculpture, as well as status symbols of success, power, and wealth. The exhibition will be accented with beautiful hood ornaments, sculptural engine components, vintage photographs and films, and drawings by the custom coachbuilders who created these special cars. The cars chosen for the exhibition have won awards at prestigious world events such as the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance and a few of them have even broken records on racetracks. Visitors will experience an unprecedented collection of limited-edition cars–some never before seen publicly. On loan from some of the most respected collectors in the country, some were previously owned by noted enthusiasts including Hollywood legends Clark Gable and Steve McQueen and fashion designer Ralph Lauren." Location: High Museum of Art, Atlanta, GA
